if you get a k&n filter induction kit, included with it is a silver foil pipe, this is to be used to force fresh air upto your filter area most people route the pipe some where behind the grill or about the front bumper area.
hot air though the filter should not be a problem then.

i would highly recommend the k&n option!!!!!!!! :D

Also you could look for a dedicated cool feed K&N type filter, usually has a cone over the filter, which the cool air pipe fits directly to, also has slight ram charging effect on the air. Viper do one, but they are about 260.

Try and put a sort of heat baffle in yourself, just so that it works like a landrover safari roof (double skin) the closest skin to the heat reflects the heat away, thus stopping the heat radiating onto the filter - so stops the heat that way. This is what my husband used to do with his Vectra.

Your right Vectra's do not like warm air.
